Responses, Results and Reactions
RESPONSES:
I ran into Charlotte in the lobby of my condominium. She thanked me for the letter and let me know that she had read it to the entire class. She said that it is letters like these that will help her continue to get support and funding to continue offering classes like the one I attended.
RESULTS:
A comment from this letter appeared in the Community Action Agency of Somerville June 2009 Newsletter (check the bottom of Page 3 - I am identified as "A Boston Businessman").
REACTIONS:
Dear Mr. Riecke,
Charlotte Knox couldn’t say enough good things about your visit to her ESOL class at CAAS Head Start! I am writing an article about Head Start for the 2008 CAAS annual report, and the ESOL class is going to be the headline story. Charlotte told me about your visit, how the students prepared in advance to ask you questions, and how they wrote a story about you, and she also was kind enough to share with me your letter to the students. I was very touched. Reading about you and the students will help me to put into words what’s so special about this program.
Thank you!
