"ACS - Where Do the Donations Go?"
This week our guest writer is a college friend of mine, Anthony Marino, who works for The American Cancer Society. Since we are trying to raise money for the ACS in our Walking Marathon, I asked Anthony if he would share some material with us so that we could see some of the good things that they do with the donations they receive.

Dear Scott,
Thank you for inviting me to write this week, and for your efforts to support the American Cancer Society. I hope that your training is going well for your July 11 marathon around the reservoir. It is people like you that help us get closer to fulfilling our mission of a world that is free from cancer.
Just last year the American Cancer Society funded a new research grant to Dr. Ceshi Chen at Albany Medical College. This video shares some background on Dr. Chen’s research, and how the American Cancer Society is funding research to stop cancer at the earliest stages. This research is only made possible by the countless hours from our volunteers across the country.
The American Cancer Society also has a number of Hope Lodge facilities across the country. I could try to give you all of the details, but this story by Robin Roberts on Good Morning America really describes the importance of Hope Lodge and how it helps people every day.
As an employee of the American Cancer Society I am proud that we can offer these services in cities across the country. But I am most proud of the efforts from our volunteers and staff that work to go the extra mile every day. I am happy to make a donation to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and to your marathon efforts.
Scott, thanks again for allowing me to write this week’s letter. Best of luck on July 11 and thanks again for your support.
Sincerely,
Anthony Marino
