Responses, Results and Reactions

What is the “A Letter A Week” project?

I write one letter each week and post it to the site.  Then I monitor any kind of response, reaction or results that I get from the letter.  I also try to find a guest-writer each week to write a letter for the site as well.

It’s pretty-much self-explanatory.

Why Letters and not Articles like every other site on the internet?

Letters are more personal – they are directed specifically at the party or parties involved.  Writing letters forces you to keep some form of decorum and avoid lengthy, one-sided rants.  If you write an article critical of someone or something, you can hide behind the public nature and relative entertainment value of what you wrote.  After all, they are going to read it and have a chance to have their response posted on the site as well.

Yes, but if they send a letter in response, aren’t you just going to make a mockery of it on your site?

No… absolutely not.  We are trying to build this site on an honor system.  We write a letter and if someone responds, they will be awarded the last word.  We don’t want to discourage people from responding.  We do have a facebook group and you can feel free to become a fan and insert your opinion there if you like.

How often is new content added to the site?

I write a letter once every week, usually at the back-end of the week (Wed, Thurs, Fri).  I try to arrange for a guest-writer to write a letter early in the week (Sun, Mon Tues).  I am currently soliciting ideas for other weekly content – perhaps “A List A Week”, “A Hero A Week”, “A Quote A Week”, “A Movie A Week”, etc.  But we haven’t committed to anything yet.

How can I become a guest-writer?

If you would like to be a guest-writer, please send us an e-mail at info@aletteraweek.com and give us a brief description of the letter you wish to write.  If the concept is appropriate, we will schedule a week for your letter to be posted.  You will need to read the authorship agreement before your submit your letter.

Are there any restrictions in terms of what I write?

Not really.  In general, we would like to keep the site’s messages positive.  We would like to avoid posting ranting arguments that aren’t backed up with legitimate information.

What is the “Scholarship Fund”?

It’s nothing… yet.  It might not ever be anything.  Or it might be something.  I haven’t quite decided.

How can I advertise on A Letter A Week?

We offer various advertising solutions including letter-sponsorships, text-links and image ads.  Please check out our Advertising Page and e-mail us at info@aletteraweek.com.
